President’s Letter
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Croatian National Association it is my honor and pleasure to invite you all to this year’s fourth annual Life Time Achievement Award Gala and Dance which will be held at Saint Anthony’s Croatian Parish Center on October 15th, 2011.
This year the honorees are: Mr. Boris Beljak, Mr. Yul-Bozidar Draskovic, and Mr. Jure Sola. All of them epitomize those superior humane qualities which make them worthy of this Life Time Achievement Award.
Mr. Boris Beljak has been a very successful businessman who from scratch built up a very prominent aircraft and missile components and assemblies engineering firm. Besides that he has been an Olympic athlete who continued to row up until recently as a veteran winning in various competitions American, European and World Championships, often multiple races in the same competition. He has helped Croatia enormously during the Homeland war and continues to do so in peacetime, especially helping the rowing sport in Croatia.
Mr. Yul-Bozidar Draskovic has been both a prize winning architect and a successful businessman. He has spoken for Croatian causes in the newspapers on numerous occasions. He led the Croatian National Association for four years.
Mr. Jure Sola is an extremely successful and visionary businessman, cofounder of Sanmina-SCI Corporation based in San Jose, California which has 41,000 employees in over 20 countries and serves clients in the fields of communications, computing, multimedia, semiconductors, defense, aerospace, medical applications and automotive technology. It is ranked number 188 in the Fortune 500 list of the top 500 United States public corporations.
All are invited to attend this traditional event honoring distinguished and extraordinary Croatian-Americans. The event is also an annual fundraiser for the Croatian National Association which enables it to help numerous Croatian American causes and organizations in the United States and Croatia. The “world famous” Dalmatian-American Club picnic will be held this Sunday, July 10, 2011 from Noon until 7:00PM. I have the honor of being this year’s picnic committee chair and I would love to see you all! My committee and I have been really busy preparing for this great event – EVERYONE IS WELCOME – You don’t have to be Croatian to enjoy the food and entertainment!!
Our club is located on the corner of 17th and Palos Verdes (1639 S. Palos Verdes Street in San Pedro). Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking. Traditional Croatian food will be available for purchase including: BBQ lamb and pork, čevapčići (Croatian sausage), mostaccioli, coleslaw, homemade desserts including apple strudel, plus hot dogs, watermelon, ice-cream and other items.
Music will be provided in the patio area by Linda Pesic and our program starts at 3:00PM with Father John Provenza and Father Ivan Gerovac leading us in an invocation followed by a special Kolo performance!! Proslava 20. godisnjice hrvatske drzavnosti u Los Angelesu
Oprostajni posjet Veleposlanice u SAD-u KOLINDE GRABAR-KITAROVIC
Los Angeles, 20. lipnja 2011. — U Hrvatskom Centru Sv.Ante u Los Angelesu u prisustvu oko 250 uzvanika odrzana je proslava 20 godisnjice hrvatske drzavnosti koju je organizirao Generalni Konzulat RH.
Generalni Konzul g. ILIJA ZELALIC je pozdravio prisutne diplomate, mnoge istaknute clanove hrvatske kolonije na Zapadnoj obali Amerike te sluzbene predstavnike medju kojima su bili MICHAEL ANTONOVICH - Supervisor i Mayor zupanije Los Angelesa, Serif LEE BACA, predstavnici grada Riverside. Svi su se zahvalili Gen.Konzulu Zelalicu na uspjesnoj suradnji te predali prigodne povelje Veleposlanici i zazelili joj puno uspjeha na njezinoj novoj duznosti u NATO-vom glavnom uredu u Bruxellesu koju uskoro preuzima.
Veleposlanica Grabar-Kitarovic kojoj je ovo bio oprostajni posjet Zapadnoj Obali se na kraju programa zahvalila svima na odlicnoj suradnji i prijateljstvu te u ime predsjednika RH Iva Josipovica predala odlikovanja RED HRVATSKOG PLETERA trojici istaknutih Hrvata u Los Angelesu: TOMISLAVU GABRIC, DR.MIRKU GIACONI I NIKOLI HAZDOVAC.
Vecer je protekla u ugodnom druzenju uz hrvatske specijalitete pripravljene od vrsnih kuhara obitelji Zoric, kolo grupe "Croatia" koji su odplesali "Ero s Onoga Svijeta".
Glazbeni duo Mate i Petra kojima su se na kraju na odusevljenje prisutnih pridruzili Veleposlanica Grabar -Kitarovic i Gen.Konzul Zelalic su svirali i pjevali za ples.

This tournament has continued to grow over the past couple years with last year having a total 18 teams in the two divisions. Games will consist of 5 field players and 1 goalie.
We have had a large response from parents who have children (ages 7-13) who are interested in participating in the tournament. If you or anyone you know has Croatian children (boys or girls) interested in playing in this game please email myself and I will forward your information to the group of the people who will be organizing the children's game.
Saturday, May 28, 2011: A top downtown L.A. club has been selected to host our annual party bus event. Buses will depart from San Pedro Brewing Company at 845pm. Cost of the bus with entrance to club with be $35 per person.
